iDEC is an acronym that stands for individual, Director, Editor, Camera-person. In this first module we introduce you to the C in iDEC which stands for Camera-person. You will learn the camera basics of framing, focus and exposure and you will capture your first shots as you discover what a GV, or general view, is.

INTRODUCTION TO VIDEO EDITING
The E in iDEC stands for Editor.
In this module you will edit the shots you filmed in the first module to create a montage. You will learn about the three focusses of editing – timeline, transitions and trimming.

MODULE 3
CREATING A PROMOTIONAL MONTAGE
This module will develop your editing and creative skills as you plan, film and edit a promotional montage video for your business.

MODULE 4
CREATING A SEQUENCE
The D in iDEC stands for Director. This Module looks at the role of the Director and how to start telling stories by creating sequences.

SAP – structure, audience and performance

After this module you will be able to begin to tell stories by creating sequences for your videos.
MODULE 5
TELLING STORIES WITH SEQUENCES
In this module you will learn how to edit your sequence using the iDEC principles of timeline, transitions and trimming as you develop your story-telling skills.

On completing this module you will be able to edit sequences and use them to tell stories.
MODULE 6
CREATING A 'HOW-TO' VIDEO
Now that you can edit a sequence, you will learn about adding captions to your video to create ‘How To’ or instructional content.

MODULE 7
STRUCTURING YOUR EDIT
This module will further develop your story-telling, looking at structure so that you videos have a beginning, a middle and an end. We also look at some advanced audio skills.

MODULE 8
PRESENTING TO CAMERA
The i in iDEC stands for individual. The last iDEC pillar is all about being taking responsibility for your productions as an individual or producer. In this module you will learn how to present to camera as you capture your first PTC or piece-to-camera.

PPP – pre-production, production and post-production
Presenting to camera
Selfie-shooting
On completing this module you will be able to deliver a PTC or ‘piece to camera’.
MODULE 9
THE MAGIC OF THE CUTAWAY
In this module you will edit your piece-to-camera and learn about the magic of the cutaway, a simple editing technique that will raise the bar of your video productions.

The final module in your iDEC training looks at how you can develop a strategy to produce regular, high quality video content to aid business growth. We also give you our top tips for video production and look at time lapse and slow motion.
